Use this for a purchase count after measuring the install area; keep tile dimensions in centimetres and check pack sizes separately.
What the result means
The result rounds the calculated tile count upward. It is a purchase planning count, not a layout or pack-size check.
The formula
Ceiling(floor area * (1 + waste allowance / 100) / ((tile length / 100) * (tile width / 100)))
Results are displayed to at most two decimal places. Calculations use the unrounded inputs.

Twenty-four square metres with ten percent allowance and 30 cm square tiles requires 294 whole tiles after rounding up.

- Measure the install area in square metres.
- Enter the actual tile dimensions in centimetres.
- Add a deliberate cutting and breakage allowance.
- Round to whole tiles, then convert to unopened packs.
Why this number matters
Tile area and waste are visible inputs, so the count can be checked against the planned layout and product packaging.

- Waste allowance (%)

Assumptions and limitations
- Diagonal layouts, borders, niches, and pattern matching can need more allowance than entered.
- The result does not know tiles per box, shade lots, or retailer pack rules.
- It is not installation, substrate, or structural advice.
